12% of budget marked for ST: Tawadkar

CANACONA: Tribal Welfare Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has stated that the State government has come out with as many as 22 welfare schemes to improve the living standards of the ST community.

Tawadkar was speaking recently at a function organised for the villagers of Cotigao and Gaondongrim panchayats. Tawadkar said the ST community should reap the benefit of these schemes.
Tawadkar said the ST community lagged behind as the previous government did not come out with any measures/schemes.
“Twelve per cent of the budget is marked for the development and welfare schemes of the ST community.
The community members should wholeheartedly step out and take benefits of all the welfare schemes brought forth by the government and improve their living standards along with the rest of the society,” Tawadkar appealed.
