2 burglaries in two days in Borda; locals want strict vigil

MARGAO: Barely 24 hours after a flat was burgled in Marlem area of Borda, Margao on Friday, burglars brazenly struck again barely 50 metres from the site of the crime and burgled a flat at Sapana Oasis building.

MARGAO: Barely 24 hours after a flat was burgled in Marlem area of Borda, Margao on Friday, burglars brazenly struck again barely 50 metres from the site of the crime and burgled a flat at Sapana Oasis building. 
However, police say that it was an attempt to burgle and the owner too chose to stay mum on the matter and did not reveal the loss suffered. 
On Friday burglars had struck at Indradhanush apartment in Marlem, using the same modus operandi used in Saturday’s robbery. Worried over constant reports of burglary in the locality, local residents have been asked to stay alert and called for stricter night vigils and patrolling in the area. 
However, Margao police too complain of staff shortage and say the situation has been the same for several years. Margao Town Police Inspector C L Patil has been on record for his request for additional staff.
