VASCO: A 25-year-old labourer from West Bengal died, after he fell from the fifth floor of a building under construction near Safi Masjid, Baina.
According to the locals residing near the construction site, Delani Sheik was untying the scaffolding of the building on the fifth floor on Monday morning when he accidentally came crashing down. Sheik fractured his leg and also sustained serious head injuries.
The locals further informed that Sheik was rushed to Chicalim Cottage Hospital (CCH), from where he was referred him to GMC Hospital in Bambolim, where succumbed to injuries late Monday night.
The locals also complained that the labourers were seen working at the site late in the night without any safety material.
When contacted, contractor Mansoor Knan, who is also a native of West Bengal, said they have the harness belts with them, but the labourers refuse to use it.
When Khan was asked to produce the harness belts, he failed to do.
When contacted, Vasco Police said they have registered a case of unnatural death and PSI John is investigating the case.
