PONDA: Three labourers engaged by Electricity Department’s contractor for installing electricity power supply lines on the electric poles below the High Tension 11 kv lines at Volvoi were electrocuted to death while one labourer was seriously injured, on Friday.
The incident took place after one old electric pole fell on live High Tension lines while they were working. Those electrocuted namely are Badashah (45), Durgesh (21), Arvindkumar (19) and Rama Kumar, who is seriously injured.

According to the Electricity Department officials, the contractor had hired labourers for erecting new High Tension 11 kv lines at Volvoi. The work was progressing since past many days. After completing the work of erecting new lines on Friday, the workers were busy in removing the electric power lines on the old electric poles. While doing this work, one old pole suddenly broke and fell on new live High Tension lines due to which the wires fell on them leading to the death of three while one got seriously injured. It is learnt that two labourers died immediately on the spot while one succumbed on way to Ponda Sub District Hospital.
