49 booked for lockdown violation

MARGAO: South Goa police have registered 49 cases against lockdown violators in the first six days of the current month and have collected Rs 4,68,850 as fines. Interestingly, since the lockdown began on March 25 they have collected Rs 10.18 lakh as fines.

Since April 1 till April 6, police have arrested 93 persons and seized 49 vehicles besides booking 3,157 Motor Vehicle cases. Since the lockdown began 108 cases were registered, 178 persons were arrested, 78 vehicles were seized and 5,664 Motor Vehicle cases were booked.

In the month of April while Konkan Railway Police booked 113 cases under the Motor Vehicle Act and collected Rs 12,100 as fine, Mormugao, Canacona and Verna police stations registered not a single case under the Motor Vehicle Act.
