A 55-year-old flower vendor from Korgao-Pernem was allegedly gang raped at Arambol beach on Thursday night.
According to Pernem police, the woman who was selling flowers to the tourists on Arambol beach was dragged by some persons on the seashore, where she was sexually assaulted.
On Friday morning, some fishermen saw the woman lying in unconsciousness state on the seashore. They informed Arambol outpost police, who sent the woman to the Goa Medical College, Bambolim for medical examination. The medical report confirmed that the woman was raped.
Police suspect that some workers who are working on the shacks might be involved in the incident.
Police have registered an offence under Sections 341, 359 and 376 for restraining, threatening and rape.
