700 litres of liquor seized at Sacorda

PANJIM: In joint raid conducted by Colva police inspector Jivba Dalvi and Excise officials, 700 litres of country made local liquor was seized at Sacorda in Collem, worth Rs 56,000. As per information, liquor was illegally manufactured in a local distillery.

PANJIM: In joint raid conducted by Colva police inspector Jivba Dalvi and Excise officials, 700 litres of country made local liquor was seized at Sacorda in Collem, worth Rs 56,000. As per information, liquor was illegally manufactured in a local distillery.
In addition, 3200 litres of raw toddy was found in a shed, which the team destroyed on being found.  A Vasco local Sanjay Mandrekar has been detained in this regard.
The raid comes ahead of Lok Sabha elections in Goa on April 12. Flying squads comprising of officials from various agencies are conducting checks at suspected places to ensure model code of conduct is not violated. Border check posts are kept on surveillance for security. Potential cash and liquor smuggling is also being check to thwart any such attempts
