PANJIM: Eight tourists were saved from drowning by lifeguards in three separate incidents at Anjuna, Arambol and Calangute beaches.
According to reports, a 43-year-old tourist from Jammu & Kashmir entered in a non-swim zone at Anjuna Beach despite being warned by lifeguards he ventured into deeper waters and was unable to float and panicked. Lifeguards rushed to his aid, secured him and brought him ashore.
At Arambol beach, five tourists from Punjab, under the influence of alcohol, were swimming in a non-swim zone though lifeguards requested them to move to a safer location. They ventured into deeper waters and were pulled by under water currents. Lifeguards rushed to their aid and a jetski was launched. The victims were secured and were safely ashore. In another incident at Calangute beach, two tourists reached deep water and were unable to float. Lifeguards observed the victims in distress and rushed to the spot and brought them to the shore.
