AAP leaders accused the government of failing to prioritise education and described the report
as clear evidence of systemic neglect.
AAP leader Ramrao Wagh remarked, “The pathetic state of Goa’s government-run education system has been laid bare by a Central agency. The data makes it clear that the government should take immediate action to improve the future of students and the state as a whole.”
Drawing a comparison with Delhi, Wagh said, “In Delhi, 100% of government schools are equipped with computers, while Goa lags far behind. What is stopping Goa’s Chief Minister, who is also the Education Minister, from making similar improvements?”
Wagh further highlighted troubling statistics from the UDISE+ report. “There are four schools in Goa with zero student enrolment and 238 single-teacher schools. This means students from different grades are forced to study together in one classroom—a truly pathetic situation. The government has failed to address declining enrolments in government schools,” he added.
AAP leader Salman Khan raised concerns over the government’s expenditure on education. “Goa allocates only 9.5% of its budget to education, while Delhi sets aside 21%. This budget disparity reflects Goa’s regressive approach to education,” Khan said.
