VALPOI: The dispute between the ACGL management and the workers over their charter of demands will likely be solved Monday when Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar meets with them in the evening.
ACGL is a leading government company which employs 315 workers and 70 management staff.
Since the last fifteen months, the management and the workers’ representatives are engaged in an intense negotiation on fixing the monthly salary. While the workers are demanding Rs 8500 as monthly salary, the management is willing to pay only Rs 5500 per month.
Earlier, in a special meeting with the workers, the chief minister proposed to fix the salary at Rs 6750 per month, which would be hiked to Rs 7000 per month after three and half years.
This proposal was rejected by the workers’ representatives. Therefore, the chief minister called for meeting with both parties on Monday to discuss the matter and to resolve it. Both the workers and the management hope for a final decision at the meeting.
