DABOLIM: Dabolim Airport Police finally gets new premises in the old terminal of Dabolim airport, but the police station still awaits some basic facilities in the new office. Earlier, the Dabolim Airport Police used to operate from the Dabolim Traffic Cell station and the three-room structure had made it impossible to accommodate police personnel from both departments.
The earlier congested police station had also lacked toilet facilities, due to which the police had to use the pay-toilet facilities at the airport.
“After Herald highlighted the issue and police took up the matter with the airport director, we finally got new premises. Though there is still some electrical work pending, we are happy with the new premises as they are spacious,” said Dabolim PI Suresh Gaonkar.
“The new premises also lack toilet facilities, but the airport director has assured to construct toilets attached to the police station,” added Gaonkar.
Sources at Dabolim Airport police station admitted that in the absence of attached toilet facilities, the policemen have to use the pay-toilet facilities in the airport.
“At times, we have to stand for quite sometime as the toilets are occupied by others, due to which much time is lost and we cannot attend to people visiting the police station,” added the source.
