PORVORIM: The work of the link (service) road from Sai Service to District Institute of Education and Training at Porvorim is yet to be completed; however, vehicles have already begun plying along the route.
Despite assurances from then chief minister Manohar Parrikar that the road would be complete within six months, the road is yet to be completed even though work has been going on since the past two years.
It may be recalled that the foundation stone for this 1.5 km link road had been laid by Parrikar on February 25, 2013.
The movement of vehicles along the incomplete service road has caused further complications, as the electricity poles are still standing in the middle of the road and are yet to be removed and shifted to the sides or elsewhere.
This poses a grave threat especially at night, as there are no street lights illuminating the service road and these electricity poles are not visible from a distance.
When contacted, Assistant Engineer of Porvorim power sub-station Anil Kumar stated that the work to lay the underground 11 KV electricity cable from the power sub-station to the Assembly Complex is in progress.
“As soon as this work is completed, the electricity department will undertake the work to remove electricity poles from the service road,” said Kumar.
