MAPUSA: The Aldona PHC staffers were administered the dummy COVID-19 vaccines during the dry run undertaken, on Saturday.

Health Officer of Aldona PHC Dr Pritam Naik said, “This vaccine will be made available to people shortly while priority will be given to health workers followed by frontline warriors including police and municipality staff. Also citizens above 60 years and those with co-morbidities will be administered the vaccine.”
“This exercise is to understand the difficulties. We have three rooms here wherein, in first room, the photo ID of the person will be checked along with SMS, time and date of the vaccine as nobody can randomly walk in and ask for vaccine. This is checked by officer one. Officer two authenticates the info in the software whether it is the same person whom the SMS has been sent and third officer is a nurse who will administer the vaccine,” Dr Naik informed.
After the vaccine is administered, the said person will be kept under observation of a doctor and nurse for 30 minutes to see if there are any side effects. There are two doses. When the first dose is administered the said person will receive another SMS with schedule time and date for the next dose, which is usually 28 days after of first dose,” Dr Naik informed.
“Even after receiving the vaccine, he/she should continue to follow the COVID norms such as using face mask, sanitisation and social distancing,” Dr Naik informed.
