PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said that henceforth most advertisements of government departments would be released only in local newspapers and all ads would be released through Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIP) only.

Parrikar said that a circular in this regard would be issued to all departments between June and July. He was speaking during Question Hour Tuesday, wherein Independent MLA Naresh Sawal pointed out that crores of rupees have been spent by publishing advertisements in the newspapers.

According to the reply tabled in the House, government spent Rs 15.90 crore in 2011-12 and Rs 7 crore in 2012, till date.

Replying to the query, Chief Minister said that more than half of the amount has been spent on publishing advertisements in national papers and on agencies by the erstwhile government. He said that government is now working out a clear policy, according to which the advertisements related to tenders, employment and other information would be released in only local newspapers.
