Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Vijai Sardesai on Monday said that the opposition alliance failed to fully translate on the ground as it was formed too late, preventing it from percolating to the cadres and leaders of the alliance partners.
Reacting to the Zilla Parishad election results, Sardesai said he had expected the alliance to secure at least four seats, but it managed to win only one seat, where public anger against the BJP could be effectively channelised.

“Since the alliance happened late, it didn’t percolate to the cadres and leaders of the alliance partners,” Sardesai said, while maintaining that the outcome in Salcette was significant. “The people of Salcette have shown that the BJP can be thrown out. However, in the rest of Goa, the mindset appears to be different,” he added.
Sardesai acknowledged the need for introspection following the results and said the party and its allies would now sit together and strategise for the future, taking lessons from both the setbacks and the limited success achieved in the elections.
