Residents of Zor-Vaddo in Anjuna have been grappling with a severe water shortage for the past six to eight months, with little to no relief in sight. Despite the arrival of the monsoon, over 25 households in Ward 5 continue to struggle for access to clean drinking water.
Locals report that the Public Works Department (PWD) pipeline supply has been reduced to a mere trickle and frequently runs dry, leaving families dependent on alternative—and often unreliable—sources. The issue is further compounded by the area’s elevated terrain, which hampers water flow.

Villagers have alleged discrimination in water distribution, pointing out that while coastal hotels and private villas receive sufficient supply, residential areas like theirs are consistently neglected.
Frustrated by repeated complaints and official apathy, a group of residents staged a protest outside the PWD office in Mapusa. They expressed disappointment with the lack of action from local MLA Delilah Lobo, stating that despite multiple assurances, the situation remains unchanged.
The residents are now demanding urgent intervention from the authorities to restore regular water supply and ensure equitable access to this basic necessity.
