Anjunem water rises

MAYEM: With incessant rains lashing the Sattari and Bicholim talukas, the water level of the Anjunem dam rose to 92.49 metres, forcing the dam authorities to open all the four gates of the dam to release water.

It may be recalled that few days back after the water level of the dam crossed 91 metres, all four gates were opened. According to Anjunem dam executive engineer Dnyaneshwar Salelkar, about 14 mm rainfall was recorded on August 24 and the water level rose to about 92.49 metres. “Locals have been asked not to go near riverside of Valvanti and Kasti rivers, as water is being released from Anjunem dam and there is no danger of flooding,” informed Salelkar.
