Rains flood low-lying areas in Calangute

CALANGUTE: Incessant rains that lashed the coastal villages of Calangute left the roads and low-lying areas flooded on Tuesday.

Motorists had a difficult time in negotiating the pot-holed roads at Baga, Calangute and Arpora, while two-wheeler riders also faced difficulty while negotiating the water-logged roads at Baga and Calangute in view of sewerage work which involved digging of roads to lay the pipeline.
At few places, domestic tourists riding two-wheelers had falls in potholes, requiring medical attention.
The roads from Baga to Saunta Vaddo, Khobra Vaddo and Umtta Vaddo were flooded with rainwater, which lacks a proper drainage system. When the matter was highlighted by Herald last time, the PWD officials were directed to look into the matter on priority basis.
However, the drainage system is yet to fall in place.
