The Anti-Narcotic Police carried out a narcotics raid at Pilerne and arrested a man for allegedly being in illegal possession of a large quantity of ganja, officials said.
The accused has been identified as Bansi Dhar Sahoo, a native of Odisha. During the operation, police recovered 2.996 kilograms of ganja along with cash amounting to ₹1.50 lakh from his possession.
Following the seizure, Sahoo was taken into custody and produced before the court, which remanded him to seven days of police custody for further investigation.
Police said further inquiries are underway to determine the source of the contraband and whether the accused has links to a larger drug trafficking network. The Anti-Narcotic Police reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations against drug-related activities across the state.
