MARGAO: The Parishioners of the St Sebastian Church on Friday met Margao Municipal chief officer and discussed with him the latest developments on the common burial/cremation ground issue.
Meanwhile, the parishioners have warned of law and order like situation due to the suspension of the revocation of the municipal order directing allotment of space in burial grounds/crematoriums for persons not professing any faith.
The DMA while hearing the applicant for the common burial/cremation grounds had suspended the order of the MMC revoking its earlier serviced order. The parishioners had warned of a backlash after the order of MMC and subsequently the MMC had revoked its own order.
Now the parishioners have refused to honour the order of DMA. “The DMA should have been more considerate while passing such an order which is not acceptable to any community whatsoever,” said an Aquem resident.
The DMA will now hear the case on merit on December 13 where the nitty-gritty of the case may be discussed threadbare.
