MARGAO: Even as the Margao Municipal Vice Chairperson Pratima Coutinho has quit office as per an agreement, Chairperson Arthur D’Silva said he has no immediate plans to resign and would leave the question to the ruling group of Councillors.

“Majority of the Councilors have told me to continue in office. Pratima may have quit office as per the agreement. But, the agreement to step down from office after 11 months was violated from day one when there was cross voting during my election”, he said.

By asserting that he would go by the majority decision over his continuance on the post, Arthur has given clear indications that he would not step down from office as per the agreement. “A meeting of the ruling Councilors is expected to be convened early next week. Let the Councilors give their say whether they want me or not”, he said.
