PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday announced that the Goa Assembly Session will commence on February 6, 2025.

The CM said being the first session of the year, the session will start with the customary address by Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai, marking the start of the legislative proceedings.
However, he said that the decision with regards to duration of the session will be taken later. The last assembly session was held in the months of July and August this year. The monsoon session had encompassed discussions on the 2023-24 budget, cut-motions, and demands for grants across various departments. It featured 144 zero-hour mentions, 36 calling attention notices, and 15 private member resolutions. Furthermore, the assembly introduced and passed 19 government bills, with one bill, “The Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill, 2021,” being withdrawn.
A total of 320 papers were laid, and 14 bills received assent from the Governor. The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) report was also adopted. Though the duration of the assembly session has not been announced, it is likely that the opposition will seek a longer session in order to raise burning issues.
However, recent governments in the state have ensured that the Assembly sessions are short.
