PANJIM: The United Balrath Employees Union (UBEU) on Wednesday rubbished the Education Department’s survey claiming that 88 percent of the balrath buses were operating on Tuesday. They said that the department and the government are not aware of the number of buses in the State.
“According to the RTI reply, our union has got a report claiming there are 425 balrath buses operating in Goa. Education Department’s survey, done on Tuesday, was completely wrong, which said only 13 buses were off the route out of the 105 buses, this shows that the government is not concerned and serious about the balrath buses,” activist Swati Kerkar said.
She said it’s been seven years that the balrath bus drivers and attendants have not got a hike in salaries and that many parents have supported the demands of the balrath employees.
Stating that before going ahead with the strike, the union had given a 14-day period for discussion on the issue, but the government is not serious and as a result no discussions were held.
