BJP acting like ‘Bhasmasura’, trying to destroy Goa, says Faleiro

PONDA: GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro has likened the BJP to ‘Bhasmasura’, a Hindu mythological character who tried to destroy the very person who gave him great power.

PONDA: GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro has likened the BJP to ‘Bhasmasura’, a Hindu mythological character who tried to destroy the very person who gave him great power.
Faleiro was speaking at a Yuva Melava organized by the Ponda Block Youth Congress Committee at Sungrace Garden, Bethora, on Sunday. This melava, like the Mahila Melava held recently, got a huge response from the youth.
Addressing the gathering, he stated that the youth were the backbone of the economy and called for them to support the Congress as the party was committed to development. He also asked them to look at how the BJP had failed to deliver on its promises, taken several U-turns, and tried to destroy the future of the Goan youth.
“The BJP government, which was elected to power by Goans, is acting like Bhasmasura towards them. According to Hindu mythology, Bhasmasura wished that if he touched anybody’s head with his hand, then that person should be reduced to ashes. When God fulfilled his boon, Bhasmasura tried to touch God, who was forced to run away. Likewise, the BJP, after praying in the name of Parivartan, was brought to power by the people of Goa, but after coming to power, it only took several U-turns, and whichever issue was touched on got destroyed,” said Faleiro.
He further said that the BBSM leaders who worked with the BJP for the 2012 election were now allegedly calling BJP leaders as ‘fathers of all liars’, which was enough to judge the party. He asked the youth to take account of all the failures of the BJP during its four-and-a-half years rule and to drop the “communal party”, which was dividing people on religious lines, and bless the Congress, which would take them towards development.
Reverting to the Bhasmasura analogy, Faleiro said that when the BJP touched the mining issue, mining totally stopped; when it touched the Mundkar and Tenancy Act, farmers were affected; and when it touched on labour laws, workers suffered.
He further said that the BJP had taken big U-turns on several promises, like removal of casinos, monthly allowances for the unemployed, to reduce inflation, to free Goa from corruption, to provide 50,000 jobs, to scrap the Regional Plan, and settle the MoI issue.
“Now the BJP has formed its Dirty Tricks Department, which asks so-called political leaders to call the Congress as its B team. These so-called leaders are not blaming the BJP, but are instead criticising Congress. These leaders are the B team of the BJP and people should be aware about them,” said Faleiro.
Meanwhile, ex-CM Ravi Naik touched on the recent development where some youth leaders demanded a promotion by retiring senior party leaders.
