PANJIM: The BJP has filed a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against Sunil Marathe, personal assistant of the Health Minister for allegedly distributing offer letters for government jobs to prospective candidates in Valpoi and Poriem from his car.

The BJP on Thursday also lodged a complaint against Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) for allegedly violating the election code of conduct. It complained that 20 vacancies to the posts of room boy and receptionist had been filled after the election code of conduct came into force.

“An appointment of one candidate was cancelled on the grounds that, he is associated with the BJP but it was filled by recruiting the persons of the choice of the chairman of the corporation,” says BJP in its complaint.

The party also lodged a complaint against an administrative officer of the health department for accepting letters of acceptance from candidates who had been handed over appointment letters in the department after announcement of elections.

The health department was raided following this complaint.
