PANJIM: Reacting to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s statement asking when the Dhavalikar brothers will quit the cabinet, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) asked him to remove all three party MLAs from the government.
“We are waiting for them to remove us. Why don’t they remove us if they have such displeasure? We had made a commitment to the people of Goa that we will be with the government for the full tenure,” Ponda MLA and MGP General Secretary Lavoo Mamledar said on Friday.
He said there have been differences since the start of the term and this is not new to the MGP, it is only that BJP has now come out in the open. Mamledar said that almost all decisions were taken without taking the coalition partner into confidence.
“What BJP has said today, I have been saying since day one that they are taking MGP for granted. None of the alliance conditions have been fulfilled by BJP,” Mamledar said.
MGP President Pandurang (Dipak) Dhavalikar, a minister in the cabinet, said that the BJP high command should declare they don’t want an alliance with MGP. “We are ready to go alone, let them declare that they don’t want an alliance. I don’t know whether these people who are making statements have any value,” Dhavalikar said.
