Parrikar told the media after the meeting that they had begun their membership drive with a target of 11,000 members to be achieved by the end of the month even as he told his workers that their target for votes was 12,000.
“All over Goa we are targeting 4,00,000 members while in Panjim our target is 11,000,” Parriakr told media at a press conference after the meeting.
Panjim, with an electorate of 22,034 voters, will go to the polls with elections expected to be held along with the Delhi elections in Jan-Feb. The seat fell vacant after Parrikar resigned his seat to go to the Centre.
According to Parrikar, the name of a candidate would be finalized by around December 12 and he wanted just one name to be finalized by the local unit.
“I have already had consultations with many people. And expect to complete the balance consultations when I return by 7-8 of December,” he said.
He said that the Goa unit will then sent the name to the Parliamentary board that will finalise the name.
“But one thing is sure; the party decision is final,” he said.
During the meeting, enumerating on the planned development works for the capital, he told his party that he would be there for them and would always have Goa’s and Panjim’s interest at heart.
