PANJIM: In view of devastation in Uttarakhand due to flash floods and landslides, the Goa BJP unit on Tuesday, vide a special meeting, decided to collect funds for the calamity-hit people in the hill state, where thousands are feared to have been killed.
Speaking to media persons, BJP state president Vinay Tendulkar said that the fund raising campaign would be started with the BJP MLAs, Ministers and Member of Parliament donating their one month salary.
The party has set a target of Rs 1 crore.
The party has opened a special account ‘Uttarakhand Relief Fund-BJP Goa’ bearing account number- 025900101029117 Corporation Bank.
“I appeal to the people of Goa to donate humbly to the Uttarakhand relief fund,” Tendulkar said adding ‘party cadres would be visiting door-to-door for donation’.
