MARGAO:Congress legislature party spokesman Reginaldo Lourenco on Friday pointed accusing fingers at the BJP leadership, including Chief Minster, Manohar Parrikar for the dastardly attack on San Andre MLA Vishnu Surya Wagh.
Charging the BJP for fostering intolerance in Goan society, Reginaldo questioned the stoic silence of the government and the BJP over the attack. “Nigerian ruckus could not have occurred had they feared Goa Police. Now, a MLA is being attacked. Where is the law and order. Why is the home minister so insensitive and inefficient. I condemn such a cowardly act, even though Vishnu Wagh is from our rival party”, he told the media.
“Is this not the result of the Home Ministry and entire law and order mechanism being hijacked by drug, prostitution, casino and mining mafia. How can Parrikar tolerate all this? Are haftas so huge that the home minister can allow Goa to go to dogs”, he sought to know.
Saying that the danger of RSS/BJP extremists as well as Togadias and Muthaliks is looming large, Reginaldo said the “warm blooded” in the RSS/BJP cadre would get an impetus to perpetuate violence, adding “in Parrikar’s previous regime too such things had reared its ugly head. Don’t we remember the vandalism at Fontainhas”.
He said the tendency of suppression of expressions of creativity and attacks by communal fascist block must be nipped in the bud. “Have the fundamentalist Taliban Hindutva brigade been given extra judicial powers to decide what an MLA should attend. Can we allow fascism at our door step. Why is that the BJP always intolerant towards any type of criticism”, he questioned.
