Calvim tragedy: Memorial service for victims

Residents of Calvim-Aldona will hold a memorial service on February 18 for the six victims, including four primary schoolgirls, who died in the Calvim bus tragedy last year.

PORVORIM: Residents of Calvim-Aldona will hold a memorial service on February 18 for the six victims, including four primary schoolgirls, who died in the Calvim bus tragedy last year.

The first death anniversary Mass will be celebrated by Calvim Parish Priest Fr Anand da Gama Pais at the Calvim Church at 8 am, followed by prayers at the cemetery. 

Other priests from the village are also expected to concelebrate the Mass, while Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo will also attend the memorial service. 

“A prayer service will also be conducted by the St Thomas Girls’ High School at the cemetery,” said Fr Pais.

Meanwhile, HCN will present a special programme on the first anniversary of the Aldona bus tragedy on Monday. The programme ‘Calvim Tragedy – Reliving the Footprints’ will be telecast at 10.30 am, 12.30 pm, 4.30 pm, 6.30 pm, 8.30 pm and 11.30 pm.
