It was also resolved to write to the district collector to install a speed breaker at Uzro junction to help the school children who cross the road.
Highlighting the secretary problem, local activist Jesus Romao complained that this is the fourth panchayat secretary in Camurlim in four years.
“The then panchayat secretary had complained to the PWD about the muddy water being supplied to us. We do not know what the response from the PWD was. But the supply of muddy water has been continuing without any respite. This is what happens when panchayat secretaries are transferred often, the link gets affected,” said Romao.
The sarpanch said that the panchayat has written to the PWD but there was no response. She assured that she would approach the PWD again.
Dr Jude D’Souza of PHC Loutolim delivered a talk on vector borne diseases. The villagers said they had complained to the PHC regarding the vector borne diseases but were not given any satisfactory reply. Dr Souza assured to look into the matter by testing water samples again.
It was also resolved to write to the health department to make blood testing arrangements at the Health Centre at Loutolim so as to avoid delays caused at the Hospicio Hospital. Construction of village roads and pre monsoon works was also discussed and the villagers demanded that the panchayat start the pre monsoon works.
At the gram sabha, Sarpanch Hilda Sequeira welcomed Gauri Kakodar, the new panchayat secretary and the new panch Mauritas Fernandes replacing Felicidade Antao who resigned.
