PANJIM: The North Goa District & Sessions Court on Tuesday disposed the anticipatory bail application filed by suspended head of forensic department, Dr Edmund Rodrigues, in connection with the illegal disposal of a body from Goa Medical College morgue last month.
The court has directed Crime Branch to issue the senior doctor 48-hour advance notice in case of his arrest.
Rodrigues was questioned for a couple of hours by the CB a week ago following a FIR over the illegal disposal of the body of Aldona youth Januz Gonsalves. He had thereafter moved the court seeking anticipatory bail. Junior technician Machindra Jhalmi and post mortem attendant Prakash Narvekar are among others facing investigation in the case.
CB, as part of its investigation, has seized the hard disk of the CCTV installed at the morgue and sought related documents. Staff of Corporation of City of Panaji, who were handed over three other unclaimed bodies besides that of Januz will also be questioned in the coming days.
