PANJIM: In a first, Goa Police’s Crime Branch (CB) interrogated a Mumbai Bazaar matka operator Prakash Savla in connection with a raid carried out at Calangute last month. Savla is known in Mumbai as he is often under the local police scanner for illegal matka activities and in the recent times, according to a Mumbai news report, he was allegedly booked for extortion too.
CB Police Inspector Dattaguru Sawant interrogated Savla for nearly six hours on Wednesday. He has been summoned for another appearance a fortnight from now.
He was quizzed in connection with the raid of a matka den in a residential premises at Calangute wherein CB’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested 29 persons who were involved in matka bets from all over India through mobiles.
Soon after the raid the main ‘Bombay Bazaar’ matka could not be opened.
