MARGAO: The Central Government under the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) and Deendayal Upadhayay Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGY) will provide Rs 639 crore funds for improvisation and upgradation of the electricity services in South Goa.
This was revealed during a joint meeting between the Electricity Department officials, MP Narendra Sawaikar and South Goa MLAs.
The agency appointed for the execution of the schemes had a presentation of the details of the schemes for the stakeholders.
The scheme is aimed at augmentation and upgradation of power supply to South Goa.
The Central Government agency has looked into the electricity related problems in South Goa and has compiled a report from the data provided by Electricity Department and field work.
“We have suggested that the Department has to take suggestions of each Constituency on the requirement of electricity supply and connections to enable them to present a proper effective report to the Center,” said MP Narendra Sawaikar.
