MARGAO: Additional District and Sessions Judge Margao Vincent D’Silva on Monday framed charges against former regional passport officer for Goa and his wife under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.

As per the order, he shall be charged under Section 13 (2) read with 13 (1) (3e) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 while his wife under Section 109 of IPC read with section 13 (2) read with section 13 (1) ( e) of the said Act.
The order further states that charges against both the accused have been framed.
Pleas of both the accused have been recorded who have pleaded not guilty .
The CBI had filed a charge sheet against them in a 2015 case reported in Goa.
The charge sheet alleged that he issued passports to applicants having criminal background.
