Valpoi Police arrested a 36-year-old resident of Chimbel following an alleged assault on a civilian and a subsequent attack on a police officer near Maria Bar in Valpoi on Friday night.
According to police, the accused, identified as Sunil, allegedly assaulted a man named Lakhpat using a vehicle key and his fists, causing injuries to the victim’s head and back. Following a PCR call, a police team rushed to the spot to intervene in the matter.

Police stated that upon their arrival, the accused allegedly became aggressive and attacked a police constable. The officer reportedly sustained injuries to his face and nose after being struck repeatedly by the accused.
Authorities further alleged that the accused used abusive language against police personnel, threatened them with serious consequences and obstructed them from carrying out their official duties.
A case has been registered against the accused, who was subsequently taken into custody. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
