Chimbel residents stop massive land filling

PANJIM: Alert locals from Chimbel with the help of government authorities managed to stop the massive land filling that was reported in their village. A total of around 45,000 sqmt of land was destroyed. 

In a press statement issued by the villagers it is been said that massive land destruction or land filling was seen in survey number 57/1 in ward number 5, which is known as Shirent near the Chimbel crematorium area.

On prima facie it was observed that the ongoing work was being done without any permission or NOC from concerned authorities. Chimbel Sarpanch, Sandesh Shirodkar who was at the site during the inspection, made it clear that panchayat has not issued any NOC for the same. 

After complaint from locals, flying squad along with police team, TCP officials visited the site and stopped the ongoing illegal work. 

The police also seized the truck and JCB machinery that was operating at the site. The contractor who was present at the site, failed to produce NOC copies.
