MARGAO: The Chinchinim Citizens Committee has appealed to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to take a serious view of the lethargic attitude of the men-in-uniform and revamp the entire police system.
Expressing its shock and concern over the daring daylight robbery at Chinchinim on Tuesday, the CCC President Cyril Leitao inquiries revealed that the police had failed to turn up at the spot after being informed about the daring incident.
Moreover, the CCC contended that it was very much necessary for the Cuncolim police to conduct nakabandis soon after the heist in order to apprehend the culprits, which only went to show their lackadaisical approach of the policemen in providing time to the criminals to escape.
While strongly condemning the attitude of the Cuncolim police, the CCC said such attitude will only embolden and encourage anti-social elements and law breakers resulting in more crimes. “It has been noted that a Police robot vehicle is stationed daily near the St Sebastian Chapel every day with two policemen doing nothing, but sitting idle,” the CCC pointed out and said the vehicle should constantly move on the roads to keep the robbers at bay.
