Parrikar also promises to solve environmental and gradient issues in developing Sonsoddo land into kabrastan

MARGAO: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, in a meeting held with Margao Muslims has assured them of solving issues relating to the land for the kabrastan in Margao.
The meeting was held between the Chief Minister, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai and representatives of Muslim organisations.
The Chief Minister has also promised to solve the issues pertaining to environment and the physical gradient issues of the land opposite Sonsoddo. However, he informed that he would have yet another meeting with them to discuss the execution of the same.
Parrikar said that the private forest and environment issues will be dealt with by his office and if need be he will speak to the Centre regarding the same. He also said that gradient issue can be solved with use of techniques.
There is also a new discussion on who uses the burial ground, as there has been a school of thought where some say that the grounds are for residents of Fatorda and Margao only.
It may be observed that the Margao burial ground now caters to 38 villages of the Salcete and also some parts of the Quepem and it will not be possible to deny other villages to use the new burial grounds as they have none in their village.
