PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant highlighted the need for proactive measures to combat Cyber crime effectively and instructed all police personnel to undertake massive cyber awareness campaign in their areas.

The Chief Minister who also holds the home portfolio, made the assertion on Friday during his address at the concluding session of Cyber Crime Investigation for Goa Police personnel.
In his brief address, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of applying the newly acquired skills and addressing trending modus operandi cyber crimes viz. child kidnapping.
A two-day specialised training session on Cyber crime and financial frauds investigation, organised by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), concluded at the Goa University auditorium on Friday.
The event, which began with an inauguration by Chief Secretary P K Goel, saw approximately 297 personnel attending in person and 504 additional personnel participating through video conferencing. Concluding ceremony was chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
The training focused on enhancing the Goa police’s skills in addressing the complexities of cyber-crime and financial frauds, covering topics such as advanced investigative tools, mobile tracking, cryptocurrency investigations, VPN usage, and online content takedowns.
Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar, IPS emphasised the State’s commitment to leading in Cyber crime prevention. He emphasised that outreach activities should be planned in local languages. The DGP stressed the importance of building a robust foundation of trained personnel and improving technological infrastructure to address digital threats effectively.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Omvir Singh Bishnoi, IPS acknowledged the critical role of the training in enhancing investigative skills for the safety and security of citizens. He appreciated the support of the Chief Minister and the contributions of I4C in organising the training, which represents a significant step forward in strengthening the State’s Cyber crime response capabilities.
Rajesh Kumar IPS, CEO of I4C, praised the proactive stance of the Goa government and stressed the need for stronger cooperation with I4C due to the rising trends of Cyber crimes. He presented a brief about I4C and how Goa Police can benefit from its capabilities.
