CM opens India International Science Festival 2021

PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday declared the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2021 open at a curtain raiser event held at the Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto-Panjim.

The seventh edition of the IISF 2021 is being held in Goa from December 10 to 13 this year. The Ministry of Earth Sciences, Ministry of Science and Technology and the Vijnana Bharati along with the Goa government will organise the four-day festival while, the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences is the nodal agency to organise the IISF 2021.

Speaking on the occasion, Sawant said that “the teachers and students from the State will benefit immensely.’

“The festival will help to inculcate the scientific temperament among the masses and inspire the young minds to indulge in the research and innovations in the field of science and technology,” the CM said.

In the IISF 2021, 5000 students of Goa will attempt to create three Guinness Book of the World Records in the field of rain water harvesting while 7000 students will showcase and participate in the event about conservation of water. Students from Goa will witness the world’s largest telescope in the festival. As the Department of Space is launching ‘Gaganyan’, participating students will make a scale model.
