PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that investigation is on into the alleged Excise Department scam and that money would be recovered from the scamsters and action will be initiated against the culprits.
Sawant said that recovery will be done from those involved and stern action will also be taken against those found guilty.

An alleged scam wherein some officials allegedly issued fake licences and renewals to licence holders and issued fake receipts to operate liquor business and siphoned the payment made by them.
The scam came to light after the Excise Department started sending notices to liquor business operators for non-payments of fees and asking them to pay the same. The panicked liquor shop operators rushed to the department only to find that they were issued fake receipts. An amount of Rs two crore approximately is learn to have been siphoned by the culprits.
Though the Chief Minister stated that the money would be recovered from the culprits, the said staff has not yet been suspended for cheating the department and has instead been transferred. It is also suspected to be well-organised scam in the department.
