BICHOLIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that despite facing financial crunch he will try to take up the work of the second phase of Sanquelim Municipality building.
Speaking after inaugurating the first phase of the municipal building and shifting the municipal staff to this new building, he said, “No doubt we have financial crunch but if the SMC clears the issue of pending three shops and gives us the land we will begin the work of the second phase of the building.”
He said there are many pending projects as the work did not continue since last two months due to COVID-19 lockdown, but now the government is trying to speed up the process. Most works in Sanquelim will be completed.
SMC chairman, Dharmesh Saglani informed that they have shifted 16 shops to the new premises and are planning to get most government departments in the new building.
He demanded for a separate mamlatdar and a full-time Chief Officer for SMC and expressed satisfaction over the development. He informed that SMC was paying an annual rent of Rs 7 lakh for using the other premises.
