“Goa is a festival destination. It has already got applause for successfully hosting DefExpo and becoming a permanent venue for IFFI. We have to maintain our reputation because holding such events brings more popularity. It will give us good ranking as international tourist destination,” he said at the launch of five-day Goa Food and Cultural Festival at Campal on Wednesday.
The festival organized by Goa Tourism and Goa Tourism Development Corporation has around 80 stalls serving a blend of cuisines and beverages of Goa, India and international flavours and is expected to be attended by over two lakh visitors. Renowned Indian bands will perform live and Goan musicians will showcase the local music and folklore.
“This festival is getting better every passing year with greater participation. Such events will help boost tourism in Goa and promote Goan cuisine and culture in a big way,” Parsekar said. This was seconded by Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar and GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral.
“Such events bring tourists to Goa in large numbers. It is a meeting point for foodies and tourists who want to experience Goan culture and savour a variety of cuisine. We have made this festival a global event during the last four years since its revival,” Parulekar said.
