MARGAO: A Cuncolim resident and civic deputy chief Mario Moraes have alleged a Rs 1.80 crore scam in the road tender floated by the Cuncolim Municipal Council (CMC).
Following a complaint lodged Cuncolim resident R Lotlikar, the Lokayukta issued notices to the Proprietor of the construction company that bagged the work and Cuncolim Municipal Council officials, for illegal procedure followed while tendering two major works amounting to Rs 5.30 crore.
This has resulted in misappropriation of funds amounting to Rs 1.80 crore due to duplicate and similar works executed by PWD during the same period of time — between 2008 and 2012. The preliminary inquiry in the matter is fixed on January 23, at 4 pm before the Lokayukta at Altinho-Goa.
Meanwhile, the petition filed by Mario Moraes in his capacity as president of Cuncolim Citizens Forum has been fixed for orders on its maintainability which is relating to the same road tender scam in Cuncolim Municipal Council.
