PANJIM: The Congress Party in Goa is yet to decide what action to take against MLA Mauvin Godinho who has been speaking against the party and has teamed up with the BJP. Congress MLAs said it is for the party to decide on him.
Leader of the Opposition Pratapsing Rane said he has asked the party president to decide on Godinho and has conveyed the day-to-day happenings to the party leaders.
Godinho, in the ongoing Assembly session has openly displayed his closeness to the BJP by not signing the no-confidence motion which was moved by the opposition against the government.
Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said, “I don’t know why there is a delay (in taking action against Mauvin). Because of such incidents, the party’s image is being spoilt. Not signing the no-confidence motion by any MLA is a serious matter and the party should take action.”
He was seconded by Quepem MLA Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar who said Godinho has no right to remain in the party if he does not sign the n- confidence motion. “The party has to take action,” he added.
Former chief minister Digambar Kamat said the party is aware about the happenings and so too is the high command.
Godinho, who is the Dabolim MLA, had developed close links with former chief minister Manohar Parrikar and was awarded the chairmanship of the SGPDA despite being a Congress MLA.
