PANJIM: Congress’ student wing has come down heavily on the controller of examination of Goa University Prof Anuradha Wagle for ‘false allegations’ against a student.
The student wing has asserted that it would not stop the students from seeking justice.
“The professor filed a false complaint against one student for intimidating her, abusing her, etc. These allegations are totally incorrect and the proof is video footage of the gehrao, which was recorded by the media personnel,” National Students Union of India’s (NSUI) Ahraz Mulla said addressing a press conference on Sunday.
The student leader was speaking regarding the two-week old incidents wherein students, backed by NSUI and NSC gheraoed the controller of examinations for failing to declare the revaluation results of fifth semester law students, despite assuring to do so by March end.
Goa University failed to declare their re-evaluation results and announced the time-table for conducting the re-test from April 8 for those who could not clear their fifth semester examination including re-evaluation. This created a panic among the students who had applied for re-evaluation.
The fifth semester examination of the bachelors of law students was conducted in October last year after which several students opted for revaluation of their answer sheets in January this year.
Since there was already a long delay, the students decided to gherao the professor seeking explanation and demanding that the retests be postponed. The results were declared soon after that but a student had to face the wrath with the police complaint.
Mulla said the “University cannot suppress students’ voice with such tactics.”
