PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Wednesday warned that the party along with the affected travellers will hold massive protest march on Zuari Bridge if the government fails to solve the traffic jams within next three days.
GPCC president Girish Chodankar lamented at the State government’s failure to take contractor to task, due to which huge traffic jams are witnessed every day on both the sides of Zuari Bridge.

Chodankar said that people travelling to their offices or tourists heading towards the airport are caught up in a bad traffic mess as a result they reach their destinations delayed and there are even incidents of people missing their flights due to getting caught in traffic jam.
The GPCC president pointed out that several ambulances are also stuck in the traffic endangering the lives of patients due to delay in reaching the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim.
Chodankar said that government has been treating the contractor as their son-in-law, allowing him to flout all the rules from the book.
It was duty of the contractor to ensure smooth flow of traffic even when construction of the road or Zuari bridge is taken up, he said.
