MARGAO: Congress leader Jose (Raju) Cabral alleging that the Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’sa misuse the State machinery including the police to terrorise people of Nuvem Constituency, steered clear that people cannot be cowed down by such acts.

He also said that MLA is involved in arresting peaceful citizens and keeping them under police custody during night just when questioned about the development in the constituency.
“The Nuvem MLA is playing havoc with the life of political opponents by using illegal and foul means. The licenses of small business enterprises are withheld or cancelled if the bribes are not paid to the extortionists of the MLA. There is illegal dumping of garbage on the Loutolim plateau with the connivance of the MLA and not authority acts, despite the locals filing the FIRs and complaints,” said Cabral while addressing the media at Margao along with few other villagers.
Cabral further charged that the scheme of the government providing compensation to local vendors is selectively provided to the supporters and henchmen of the MLA.
He also warned that if such dictatorial acts and harassment of the people continue, they will have to take to the streets and the MLA will be solely responsible for any law and order situation.
“We only questioned the local MLA when he was speaking at a prize distribution function justifying his defection and boasting of development of the constituency. But the MLA responded by arresting and showing us the doors of the prison,” said villager.

Nuvem MLA denies allegations
MARGAO: Refuting all the allegations slammed by Congress leader Jose Cabral and his supporters, Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’sa on Friday challenged the self-declared Congress leader to show who has done better development, especially the service given at the time of COVID pandemic in Goa compared to other constituencies.
Briefing the media persons at Margao along with several sarpanchs and panch members from Nuvem Constituency, he said that he has no role in harassing the people.
“Developmental works of nearly Rs 60 crore have been done and few in progress across Nuvem Constituency. I am ready to list out all the works and developments done during the last few years, more specially after joining the BJP government,” said Wilfred.
