The Congress on Friday slammed Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar over his recent controversial comments on Nigerians ‘attitude’, claiming that “the government should not single out a person or a nation.”
“It is not correct to single out a country or nationalists. We need to be very careful when we single out anyone. The media is quite active. It is not right on the part of the government,” Leader of Opposition Pratapsingh Rane said while addressing a function.
Rane, former state chief minister, said that whatever amount of work the present or previous government has done for the upliftment of its people, can be spoiled overnight with such comments.
“We need to be very careful when we make a statement. Whatever has been built up (in the field of international relations) can be spoiled overnight,” he said.
Rane was commenting on the recent statement by Chief Minister and his cabinet colleague Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar.
Parsekar had stated that the Nigerians are not liked by people due to their different attitude. He had also said that people are annoyed with their behavior. Parulekar had alleged that the Nigerian nationals intentionally commit crimes to prolong their stay in the country.
